Tá Seachtain na Gaeilge faoi lán seoil i nGaelcholáiste an Chláir agus i gColáiste Pobail na hInse, agus tá rogha imeachtaí ar siúl d’fhonn an teanga agus an oidhreacht Ghaelach a chur chun cinn.

Second Year students of Art at Gaelcholáiste an Chláir have come up with an imaginative approach to recycling and fashion design, which will see them represent their school at the Southern Regional finals of Junk Kouture in Limerick next month.

Junk Kouture is a national competition run in association with the European Recycling Platform, which challenges teenagers to create high-end wearable fashion from everyday junk that would normally find its way into the bin.

'The effects of different types of footwear on the gait of young people’ was the subject of an entry by pupils of Gaelcholáiste an Chláir at the BT Young Scientist & Technology exhibition at the RDS Dublin. They explained their findings to visitor Marian Harkin MEP, a former science teacher, who congratulated Aine Mhaoir (left) and Dearbhala Nic Uallachain on what she described as "a very practical piece of work".
